Oppose the presence of RSS leaders as chief guests on campus!
Down with the fascization of education!

Disha Students’ Organization strongly opposes the screening of ‘Demography is Destiny’ at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, in the presence of fascist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue Sunil Ambekar and RSS-BJP apologist Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari as chief guests. Sunil Ambekar, senior RSS ideologue, envisions India as a Hindu Rashtra by marginalising minorities. His book ‘The RSS: Roadmaps for the 21st Century‘ advocates spreading RSS ideology in educational spaces and cultural institutions. Similarly, Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari, recently appointed Vice-Chancellor of TISS and author of ‘Republic of Hindutva: How Sangh is Reshaping Indian Democracy‘, has long defended the RSS-BJP agenda. His appointment and Ambekar’s presence signal RSS attempts to penetrate academic institutions for ideological indoctrination. Moreover the documentary itself is a Hindutva fascism tool promoting communal division. Its framing of “infiltration,” “exodus,” “religious conversions,” and “declining Hindu fertility rates” borrows directly from RSS propaganda portraying minorities, especially Muslims, as a demographic threat. Such baseless, false, demographic fear-mongering, seen in Nazi Germany, apartheid South Africa, and Rwanda, has historically preceded persecution and mass violence. This event is not an academic exercise but a political move to legitimise a communal, divisive, and false narrative in education and society. It serves the Sangh Parivar’s project of portraying Muslims and other minorities as enemies of the “Hindu” people, while diverting attention from unemployment, inflation, and the decline of healthcare and education. Today, it is the duty of students, youth, academics, and all progressives to resist the fascization of education and protest such events. We appeal to TISS students to reject this screening and oppose the presence of RSS ideologues on campus.
